Channeling Nancy Sikes from Oliver Twist, I almost sang this instead of writing it out, but the kids were pulling me out the door to go trick or treating and we fell into candy coma after. SO, you've been spared another karaoke like performance from me today...don't worry, I'll be sure to sing for you later. I PROMISE!
I also thought this was fitting given what's going on with the economy...
SMALL PLEASURES, SMALL PLEASURES WHO WOULD DENY US THESE? GIN TODDIES---LARGE MEASURES--- NO SKIMPING IF YOU PLEASE! I ROUGH IT, I LOVE IT. LIFE IS A GAME OF CHANCE. I'LL NEVER TIRE OF IT--- LEADING THIS MERRY DANCE. IF YOU DON'T MIND HAVING TO GO WITHOUT THINGS, IT'S A FINE LIFE! IT'S A FINE LIFE! AND THOUGH IT AIN'T ALL JOLLY OLD PLEASURE OUTINGS, IT'S A FINE LIFE! IT'S A FINE LIFE! WHEN YOU'VE GOT SOMEONE TO LOVE, YOU FORGET YOUR CARES AND STRIFE LET THE PRUDES LOOK DOWN ON US. LET THE WIDE WORLD FROWN ON US. IT'S A FINE, FINE LIFE!
We just got back from an amazing week it Maine! The kids spent the days with Ami(my mom) playing around the cottage, while I volunteered at and attended the most mind-blowing conference I've experienced thus far in Camden, Pop!tech. I'll have more about that later. For now...watch my Smilebox to experience a glimpse of the beauty of New Harbor in October!
FYI - I met Amos Lee and watched him perform live at the conference (the artist singing to the Smilebox slideshow). Not only is he inspiring and talented in his music, but also a friendly and generous individual. I couldn't resist sharing this picture of us here too!
While I was listing my agreements, I also started to write a schedule for myself (part of my journey to be as productive as possible while working at home). Trying to reconcile my lists has been complicated and confusing. I'm hoping my self-exploration (aided by my long runs in training for the 1/2 marathon in November) will help me organize, simplify and unclutter my brain (and my office) so I can continue to explore the creative ideas exploding inside my brain!
Oh, and if you want to hear Natasha Bedingfield's "Freckles" sung by the artist in full, here it is...May seem corny, but really, listen to the lyrics...it's become my new mantra!
I was planning to post a video today but due to lack of sleep, ketchup explosion and the chaotic noise of kids in my house right now, I decided that writing and adding pictures would suffice.
I want to share some emotion focused tidbits from my experiences at the Blogworld Expo last week. I honestly can say that I've never been more inspired, motivated and moved by this group of kind, open, interesting and informative people. Although I came back sleep deprived with ideas exploding out of my head like fireworks have kept me from catching up on the much needed sleep while I explore all of the blogs and look up all of the new tools and ideas I learned while I was there.
While I was catching up on all of my new friends updates on twitter I came across some some incredible photography from my new friend Jeff Turner (how he can make a dead bug look beautiful is truly a gift). Below the photo was a quote that By Gloria Naylor...“I don’t believe that life is supposed to make you feel good, or make
you feel miserable either. Life is just supposed to make you feel." I love the way that these wonderful people connect, celebrate and truly FEEL life.
Here are some of my pics from the weekend...
I took pages and pages of notes in the awesome seminars. I even won Debbie Micek's book (Secrets of Online Persuasion) in Coach Deb's seminar How to Seduce Your Tribe & Create Raving Fans It would be impossible for me to mention all of the incredibly authentic and informative people here so I'll just tell you that there are some great huggers (and brilliant shining stars) in this group worth noting (since I am focusing on how feeling focused this conference was for me)...Chris Brogan, Howard Greenstein (not to mention the plug for me and ZoomAlbumhere), Toby Bloomberg, James Whatley, Robert Scoble, Jay Berkowitz, Ricardo Bueno, Walt Ribiero, Jeremy Tanner, Matt Singley and Spike Jones (okay, so I didn't hug him, but he exuded kindness and I bet is a good hugger). I have a stack of really cool business card sitting on my desk and every single one of them are worth mention are "rockstars" in my book. I'll put a link somewhere here so they all get a mention. Everyone there truly takes their lives with them...and feels life deeply...
